While it may look like one, this is not a standard USB cable. It contains a serial RS-232 converter built into the USB casing. This cable will configure as a "Comm Port" on your computer, and requires the Prolific drivers to be installed. Essentially this is USB -> Serial RS-232 -> USB. Instead of the usual audio jacks on the radio end it uses a USB connector to carry analogue data.
