Retevis H103 IP67 Waterproof Speaker Mic (for Ailunce HD1/HD2/HA1UV & RT29)

Great quality

Main issue is this speaker breaking, it seems to be the cord because I can move it around and get a split second of sound, however it doesn't work. It still transmits from the microphone just fine. The clip isn't very strong and don't fit onto radio traps and will just come off, it doesn't have any teeth on it either. Other brands are cheaper and work better. Replaced once and broke again within the same time frame.

For context - I bought 2 of these to use with standard model Retevis NR30 radios. First complaint - buying two of these shoulder mics costs more than buying 2 of the NR30's (which are pretty decent radios) - so figure that one out. I'm comparing them to the regular Retevis shoulder mics - which are themselves - not very impressive and look and feel very cheap and plasticy. I have a set of cheap mics from Commountain on my UV5R's and those feel almost exactly like genuine Motorola mics, which are nice thick and robust feeling textured composite. As soon I took these out of the box I was a little disappointed since they feel cheap and almost got like. The plastic feels cheap. The belt clip feels cheap. The cord itself is decent - but even the adapter plug has some wiggle on it when tightly screwed down to the radio. Ok - well how do they work??These ARE amplified, despite nothing telling you the are. There's a removable battery pack on the back of the radio - accessed from the entire back of the mic snapping off - with no seal of any kind to keep moisture out. These mics will work as normal mics without the volume knob switched on, and even if you completely remove their battery. The rubber seal around the charging port barely closes and stay closed. The slightest brush with your finger opens it. Worse still - the audio quality from these is pretty bad - regardless if you use the amp feature or not. Transmitting to a normal mic sends a VERY noticable echo/reverb to the other user. Picture someone talking though a cheap megaphone. The audio quality received on this mic is the same - just louder. They DO get loud. But the audio is pretty disappointing. I bought 2 - they are both like this. Even with the volume knob clicked off, detached from a radio - the transmitt lights turns on. So if these were laying around in a bag and something depressed the transmit button - it's killing the battery. I'm really pretty disappointed with these, and will be returning them both.The standard Retevis mics sound WAY better than these. Honestly - if Commountain offered mics that fit the NR30's - I'd buy those - but unfortunately they don't have anything that uses the same plug as the NR30.These were a great idea - poorly executed at ever turn IMO. Nothing about them is impressive EXCEPT pure volume - which admittedly is very loud. It's too bad - cause these could have been great. If the audio was even just "normal sounding" I'd keep them - but it's not. There's no point in having good radios - with noise reduction/cancelation on top of that - and then putting mics on them that sound like this. There's just nothing to justify the price over keeping the regular mics. Why Retevis can't make, or rebrand, a set of mics that perform well - and look and feel as good as Motorola - or Commounians cheap mics - is beyond me. The NR30's are nice solid professional feeling radios that are impossible to find mics for which feel just as good. The radios themselves feel every bit as good as the expensive Motorola models we use at work - but all the mics just feel cheap - almost "toy like". It's very unfortunate this is the reality of the situation.For reference - I work for a major telecom company doing construction and my Reveis NR30's serve as backups. The regular Retevis mics worked fine on road jobs with trucks running on busy roads. I expected these would be an upgrade - but I don't feel they are.Retevis - if you're reading this - (I doubt it) - 2 things. Please make these better of at least offer a premium mic that feels as good as the heavy duty radios. If other places can do it - you should be able to also. - And PLEASE incorporate a Talk Permission Tone feature on your radios like Motorola has. I'm tired of having to explain to people how they can't start speaking the very instant they hit transmitt. At least the Motorola radios FORCE people with a chirp to wait before talking.

These are exactly as described, advertised and appear in the offer. Price is decent, for a very decent, quality item, that works great right out of the package and fits like a glove. I’ve used higher priced items of this nature working in public safety for 30 plus years that this beats hands down. You just can’t beat this Retevis RT29 Ailunce HA1G/HA1UV lapel microphone. PS, I think it’s waterproof (shhhhh don’t let the cat out the bag).
