We have another set of these walkie talkies but I like being able to just charge one at a time. We use these with our kids on Halloween and they worked great across our neighborhood which is maybe a half mile or so. The connection is clear and they are easy to use. We haven't really tried using them further but are planning to up in the mountains when we go camping. The kids think they are really fun and often play with them around the house. The charge is decent. It' takes a few hours to fully charge, but we've never run them completely dead so I can't say how long it would take from that point. Overall, it's a god product with decent range if you want a higher quality walkie-talkie without going to the industrial types.

The Retevis Ailunce H1 Dual Band Analog Two Way Ham Radios are a very high-quality, very durable set of ham radios that are built like a tank. I have researched the brand a bit and the radios by this company have a reputation of extreme durability that holds up to heavy use and abuse. I had a Cobra 2000 in the early 80s with ham radio channels, and I lived on my radio every morning talking on skip across the world. I am also a casual prepper, so I was extremely excited to get this set of ham radios. Now that I have the set, I intend on pursing a license to operate ham radio but of course without a license, for now it can't be used. This is my first time using a handheld ham radio and this set is extremely easy to set up and use. The radios have a lot of features, and it will take me some time to become fully familiar with them. The radios have clean sound and a volume that is easy to hear. There is a voice prompt to guide you when using the radios. They have powerful 2900mAh batteries. They come with a charging station, type C charging and they come with the plugs. When a power source isn't available during a power outage or when out hiking, hunting, camping etc they can be charged on a car cigarette lighter with an adapter. I have mountain property that backs up to ATV trails and forest for that goes on for miles. I have lost my way when hiking on the mountain and it was a terrifying experience when darkness started to descend around me, and I thought I would be stuck in the forest through the night. So, I am thrilled to have the GPS feature of the radios to provide safety when I hike. I am extremely happy to have the feature rich very high quality Retevis Ailunce Ham Radios especially for emergencies. Highly Recommend!

It does not monitor the aircraft bands.When I first received it, the manual was NOT available on the Retevis website, but now it is. The manual that is easiest to find is multi-language and is extremely slow at viewing or downloading. Inside it is a QR code for the link below. I was able to program a local analog repeater and get started operating right away. However, programming the DMR does not come easily for me, personally, so I used the software. I don’t need one since the battery charges from the USB-C port in the battery. Mine will be used for DMR and/or APRS in the car, so it does not need the base.I am having a peculiar issue with my display. After 5 seconds from either receiving a signal or activity like me pushing a button, the display brightness flickers a little bit.Programming is easy when you follow the youtube video I posted above. Just make sure you get the latest version of the CPS.

I think Retevis has hit a homerun with this radio. This radio will be great for new hams that want to get into DMR and for the price point it cant be beat. This radio can be completely programmed from the keypad, but it also has CPS software if you want to use software to program it.

I wanted to like this radio; I do not. It appears to me this radio was rushed to production and released before it was ready. The build quality and quality control both seem very good. It feels good in the hand and feels very solidly built. The screen is bright and clear, and the sound is great. The issues start when one begins to program this radio. The manual supplied with the radio is worthless. It is a brief overview of the buttons, period. There is no documentation on what any of the menu items actually do, and many of the menu items are different from other DMR radios. The CPS software is extremely poor with, again, no documentation whatsoever. The is no help function, no manual, nor is there any pop-up assistance or description of any functions of the CPS. Additionally, it is proprietary and different from even other Retevis radios. There is nothing about the CPS that makes even the slightest help in programming. There is no copy, paste, nothing. It makes for an extremely arduous programming process. I often use 3rd party CPS software (RT Systems) to program radios. However, Retevis has added encryption, and no 3rd party programming software works with the radio. The Retevis website has nothing for documentation on this radio and appears to be nothing but ads. Was I able to program a code plug? Yes. Was I able to get on the air? Yes. However, the CPS absolutely sucks! Bare bones does not begin to describe the awful CPS. This radio may be worth it in several months when the amateur radio community publishes some sort of documentation or Retevis does. But, until then, I would stay clear of this radio. '73
