This is a Linear power supply, meaning it uses a heavy-duty transformer to convert 110V AC to 13.8V DC. While heavier than modern "switching" supplies, this design is virtually noise-free and will not introduce radio frequency (RF) interference into your signal.

It is NOT suitable for any mobile radio (GMRS, Ham, or Business) as they all draw more than 5A when transmitting. Using this supply with a mobile radio will cause the radio to shut down when you key the microphone.
