The Uniden BCD436HP is the scanner that changed the game. It was the first handheld to incorporate Uniden's revolutionary "HomePatrol" ease-of-use into a professional-grade chassis. If you want to listen to digital police, fire, and ambulance signals without spending hours programming frequencies, this is the radio for you.
Simply enter your Canadian Postal Code (or US Zip Code), and the BCD436HP will automatically load the local channels for your area from its built-in database. It supports modern APCO P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 digital systems, making it future-proof for most public safety monitoring.
-
📍
Simple Postal Code Setup: No complex programming required. Just enter your location, and the scanner selects the nearby agencies to monitor.
-
🚓
P25 Phase 1 & 2 Digital: Decodes the standard digital trunking systems used by most police, fire, and EMS agencies across North America.
-
📡
Close Call RF Capture: Instantly tunes to signals from nearby transmitters, helping you find active frequencies at events or on the road.
-
💾
4GB microSD Card Included: Holds the entire Radio Reference database for USA and Canada, plus gives you plenty of room for audio recording.
-
🛰️
GPS Compatible: Connect an optional GPS puck (sold separately) for automatic location-based scanning as you drive.
💡 Important Note on Digital Modes
The BCD436HP works with APCO P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2, Motorola, EDACS, and LTR trunking right out of the box.
Other digital modes such as DMR, NXDN, and ProVoice are optional paid upgrades that must be purchased separately directly from Uniden.
⚠️ Disclaimer: Encryption
Please be aware that this scanner (and all other scanners on the market) cannot decode encrypted transmissions.
If your local Police, Fire, or EMS agency uses full encryption, no scanner will be able to monitor them. We recommend checking the RadioReference database for your area before purchasing to confirm that your local channels are unencrypted ("in the clear").

Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
I live in the vancouver area. Will this allow me to listen to encrypted rcmp transmissions?
While you may be able to listen to some ProVoice public service communications, out of the box listening to encryted transmissions would most likely not be possible.
Thanks
